Proud to be a Malaysian....

August 31st is getting near, radios and TVs are always full of ads to promote patriotism in the nation. One slogan of the ads is "If you're not proud to be a Malaysian, no one will be proud of you. Satu Malaysia." Yea right, proud to be a Malaysian..

Of course I want to be proud as a Malaysian, but somebody seems to be NOT SO proud of us being Malaysians.

Also, I'm proud that when Malaysia built the tallest building (in 1998 surpassing Sears Tower in Chicago) but I'm NOT SO proud that Petronas Towers is taller because of its "decorative antenna".

Still, I'm very proud of Malaysian beautiful beaches but why the hell Phuket and Bali attract more tourists than we do?

Not to forget that I'm so fucking proud of our hardworking policemen who have their rondaan every night to prevent "crimes" like using cellphone while driving and having expired road tax.

One good thing to live in Malaysia that makes me proud is that we are living in Top 10 countries with the most public holidays. Oops, the article forgot about September 16 which was recently added, the Sultan-sultans' birthdays, the state days, Agong's birthday, and randomly added public holiday to celebrate the win over Indonesia in a soccer match. Horray, that's a lot of holidays to be proud of!

Talking about sport, I'm very proud of Dato Lee. But did we support him so that he could bring us a "randomly added public holiday" if he won the game? Yes, we are not so proud of you now because you fail to bring us a holiday!

Also, I'm very proud that Malaysia is one of the countries that has the highest vehicle-to-population ratio in the world. This means that we, Malaysians, are very rich and our public transports SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

And high vehicle-to-population ratio leads to higher demand of oil - which leads to high oil price in Malaysia too. I'm proud that Malaysia is a oil producing country. But why do we need to pay such high oil price?
Nonetheless, I'm still VERY PROUD to be a Malaysian because of our Internal Security Act to prevent social disturbance, which provides us a very quiet place to live. Hooray, I am so proud enough to say "I love Malaysia"!!
